c1940 vintage ice axe. Constructed of Hickory or Ash? shaft and cast iron head. Switzerland by Brages 1943, puchased in Dunedin in 1944 and has had considerable use in the Southern Alps for over 60 yrs. Condition very good - someminor dents near base of shaft
