OUR HISTORY

Mr Pickwicks Trading Company has a retail furniture store based at 240 Colombo Street, Beckenham in Christchurch New Zealand.  We have operated out of this furniture store for over 4 years, prior to this we were in Fitzgerald Ave, also in Christchurch for 21 years.

We, the present owners, Jan Haley and Simon Mather have owned Mr Pickwicks since 1998.  Simon has worked for Mr Pickwicks since 1982.

In the last 25 years since Mr Pickwicks first opened its doors, furniture and home decor trends have come and gone, then come again.  Antique shops have come and gone, and in latter years, mainly gone.

NOW

Despite a downturn in demand for many antique items and secondhand furniture in New Zealand, we believe there will always be a place for selected quality, character furniture and new items of furniture of the sort we offer in our store and display on this website.

FUTURE

We intend to present the majority of our stock on-line on this site making our showroom accessible to customers throughout New Zealand.  If you would like priority viewing of our latest stock as it arrives, simply register your email address on the site's homepage.

VALUATIONS

We cannot offer an on-line valuation service at this stage due to time constraints and the fact there are substantial differences in value between various parts of the country.

We welcome feedback or suggestions as to how this site may be improved.

GUARANTEE

In most cases we will refund the purchase price (less freight) if the customer is not satisfied with any goods purchased from this site. However although we endeavour to provide an accurate description with regard condition we must point out many of our goods are secondhand and it is inevitable they are rarely perfect.  Significant faults may be detailed whereas it is not practical to list every minor imperfection such as small scratches and dents, although we welcome questions via the "Ask A Question" box.
